Serving the Railway Modeller for 40 Years!
Modellers Mecca was founded in 1970 by Roy and Gwen Millership. The shop was located in the precinct not far from where we are now. The shop soon became popular with local modellers and railway folk from the Severn Valley Railway. In 1992, the rent had trippled and a decision was made to buy our current premises in Albion Street. In 2000, David and Jackie Baston took over, leaving Roy and Gwen to a well deserved retirement. David was keen to get the shop on the internet as well as lower prices to become more competetive locally. Sadly, David past away in 2004 leaving Jackie to run the business single handed. After a year of struggle, Jackie decided to sell the business but due to the size of the shop and the amount of stock, did not find a buyer. In 2006, Jackie had decided she was to retire and the business would close if a buyer was not found. August 2006 saw the current owner, Lucy Pitch, buy the business and its stock. Lucy saw the potential that Modellers Mecca had to offer modellers, and with model shops closing all the time, decided to step in at the last minute. Lucy has since lowered prices further to be competetive nationally, has expanded the website, increased magazine advert coverage and size, and is continually driving the business forward.

Corridor Connections
With the ever growing range of ready to run coaching stock and multiple units available to modellers, we
are continually expanding our range. Our most recent editions include corridor connectors for the Bachmann Class 150 DMU and Class 411 CEP EMU. The current most popular at the moment are the Hornby Maunsell and the Bachmann Mk1.
We have 39 different types of corridor connections for OO Gauge, and 6 for O Gauge. They are priced at £2.95 for OO Gauge and £3.95 for O Gauge.

Gaugemaster DCC
We now stock the Gaugemaster DCC range including the Prodigy Advance 2, decoders and accessories. All at discounted prices! We are currently training our staff to enable us to deal with your enquiries, and will soon have a system to demonstrate in store.
Modellers Mecca & Warley MRC
Warley Model Railway Club recently held a Thamas the Tank Engine day at Birmingham City Library, in which Modellers Mecca loaned various Thomas the Tank Engine locomotives and rolling stock. The day helped raise awareness of the club and our shop, and hopefully engouraged some future modellers too. |
